Chicory Passion
Passion is a very early CMS hybrid. With a minimum of 120 growth days, Passion is of great interest for very early forcing. Covering it with film during roughly the first four to five weeks of root cultivation has so far proven an excellent method. A flat-field crop instead of ridges also results in slightly earlier forcing because the root is not as deep. The CMS quality produces a very high level of uniformity, both during root cultivation and in trays.
Ideal for very early forcing
The ideal months for forcing are October and November. The high specific weight and the compact heads are the typical features of Passion and make this variety even more suited to early forcing. The head is of high quality and the pith is particularly short.
The forcing temperature should not be too high to begin with - because of the higher level of ripeness, the forcing temperature is lower than the recommended temperatures for Atlas in the same period. Avoid raising the water temperature in the second half of the forcing period.
