Baccara, the new Chicosem trump card for the forcing period between February and June is being found in more and more forcing cells. Whereas Baccara seemed to be rather young this year in January, during the course of February we see it continue to ripen. The head is now well formed, the chicory slightly bulbous. The specific weight is universally perceived as "high". Production per m2 is high.

Limited availability Baccara and Fakir

On the photos (click to enlarge), we see an impression of the Baccara and Fakir as forced in February in various places. The photos show Baccara and Fakir at the Hoquet breeding station in France, Baccara at chicory nursery Zonnenberg, Baccara at gebroeders Grooteman and Baccara at Roel Spruit.

Unfortunately, there will be very limited availability of Baccara and Fakir in 2011. Considerably less seed is available from these varieties than in 2010. Due to the good results, most chicory forcers who trialled Baccara and Fakir in 2010 want to plan as much as possible for 2011 (for forcing in 2012). Unfortunately very few seeds are available for new trials.
