Every year, the Dutch Endive Group (DEG*) tries to visit a number of trade fairs all over the world in order to find potential new markets for chicory consumption and therefore for chicory production. It is a known fact that when the production of a particular vegetable in a particular country increases, the consumption of that vegetable there also increases. After all, there are no better experts in the local market and no better promoters of a new product than the local producers.

Growtech Eurasia Fair

From 1 - 7 of december, the Dutch Endive Group has attended the Growtech Eurasia fair in Turkey. This yearly horticultural exhibition for professional vegetable growers is well known in Turkey, middle east countries and north Africa. Because one of the goals of the DEG is to develop new markets for chicory, Turkey seemed to be a good choice. Chicory is not widely known here, despite the fact that agriculture is developing at full speed in this country. The fair also offered plenty of opportunities to come into contact with enterprising growers and innovative entrepreneurs. The DEG extends ample opportunities and support to serious companies for setting up professional chicory production. As a result of local production, chicory will be made more widely available and the chicory market will have a chance to grow. The first Turkish contacts have already been made.
