Breeding news mid-season forcing

Two brand new varieties are being tested for the mid-season forcing: OK-73 (now known as Baccara) and OK-7F. Commercial seed is available for both varieties. The first harvest results are known for a few late numbers.

Baccara

Results from practical trials with Baccara (OK-73) in the Netherlands have been highly promising so far. Various growers who received samples of Baccara roots have reported favourable results. Baccara is productive and easy to manage, and it has a long shelf life. There are still some Baccara roots in the refrigerator, so interested growers can still order samples. Baccara is already looking good in France. Seed is available in large quantities for the Dutch market (clickable pictures 1&2).

OK-7F

The new hybrid OK-7F is proving a real asset in the elite segment. It has beautifully tapering foliage with long, continuous outer leaves. Ideal for Super and Flandria-Q. But besides delivering top quality, OK-7F is very productive. Only limited quantities of commercial seed are available for this new hybrid (clickable pictures 3&4).
