Atlas and Jadore OK in March

The good results produced by Atlas and Jadore this season are certainly worth a mention. Until into March, the last batches of Atlas and Jadore are scoring very well. A productive crop of good quality. The reliability and adaptability of Atlas is obviously well known, but the results of the CMS hybrid Jadore are also exceptional. In the words of John Broersen “Jadore just seems to get better and better”, so no signs of exhaustion as yet. The photos (click on photo to enlarge) show Atlas at Gerrit Kalter and Jadore at Gebroeders Broersen (photos taken early March 2011).

Good root storage important

These results show that both Atlas and Jadore have potential for delayed forcing. The possibilities through January are well known, but if you choose the good quality, high pointed Atlas or Jadore in February (or March), sow around 1 June in not too light soil, don't lift too late in a still relatively vital crop and finally ensure optimal storage of the roots (from beginning of December below zero). Various forcers have proven this success for years.
